About the Artist
Julie Kessler is a native of Brooklyn, NY. She discovered her love for drawing and painting at a very early age. Her first formal drawing lessons began when she was nine years old with Theodore Fried at the Hudson Guild Community Center. There she developed a passion for observing the beauty of form in nature. As an adult she returned to her love of painting, and attended the National Academy of Fine Arts where she studied with Sam Adoquei. He inspired her to learn from the great masters, and to look for the beauty in her immediate surroundings. She takes this approach in her portraits, landscapes and still-lifes to convey the radiance of the world in which she lives. She was awarded several scholarships and honors at the National Academy of Fine Arts. Her work has appeared in the Cork Gallery, the Williamsburg Music Center and at the Repast Café in New York City, and her landscapes and portrait commissions are found in private collections.
