Artist Statement
My work expresses my gratitude for the privilege of being alive. I do this by taking time to notice and appreciate the beauty and sensuality in my immediate world. I’m inspired by the colors, textures and shapes of familiar everyday objects as I go about my daily routine. The items on my table might be bathed in warm yellows or shimmer in icy blues. I may be walking down a crowded New York street and suddenly spot a majestic tree lit up in an orange blaze. Or I'll see the tiny points of red traffic lights echoing into the distance under a massive gray sky. My wish is to be open to the extraordinary in the ordinary, and to express my delight in its magic ... with paint.
